Need for more sober living on Vancouver Island
This petition had 39 supporters
Growing up on Vancouver Island We have watched many fall into addiction from family to close friends We have seen people lose there lives do to not having the right kind of support to turn to .
making the discussion to get help and go to treatment are the first steps to a better and more filling life but after treatment you are excpected to venture out and figure the rest out for yourself .
Vancouver Island has many homeless shelters countless places to use drugs safely as well a number of buildings houses and old hotels for low income singles that are looking not to live on the streets any longer
this housing is great and keeps people off the streets but all of these places also say they promote clean living but if you live in Victoria bc you would know this kind of housing I speak of are full of active substance abuse users not looking to get clean I have done months of research to look into this I have walked the streets of downtown Victoria
stood outside these establishments and witnessed active users come and go
My point is these places are all we have for someone wanting to continue a life of sobriety on top of that they are full to the max
we are putting this petition out in hopes it will prove a need for a well run sober living house
We are two Women with a desire for change we are going to do all we can threw social media go fund me YouTube and local support to get the funds to open a 20 bed sober living house with a retreat like setting
we are wanting to offer
•safe living environment
•a place where are residents can work on there on going sobriety as a group with there peers as well independently
•daily meditation classes to help to gain clarity and better focus a calmer way of living
•access to community support as well as the local 12 step communities
•in house computers and phones
•home cooked meals daily
•help with gaining faith in them selves to make the right choices when there stay with us is over
and much more
so please I know that was a lot to read but you would help us a great deal by signing this petition
