Katie Peirson started this petition to Ashfield District Council and

Bullying should not still be an issue in schools. Often times children are experiencing verbal and physical abuse on a daily basis. Schools claim to be "anti-bullying" and have pointless "wear odd socks" days, yet when one of our children becomes the target of this completely unacceptable behaviour, the schools refuse to accept any responsibility, or sometimes to even acknowledge anything has actually taken place at all. As parents, our mission in life is to protect our children, and when we hand them over to the school we need to be confident in their ability to continue this duty of care. Bullying of any kind needs to be taken very seriously, and our children deserve to feel safe in their school setting without fear of any kind of abuse, and that should this occur, they will be heard, they will be believed and that there will be repercussions for the perpetrators. Most of us have experienced bullying in one form or another, not just as children but as adults too. Enough is enough!
