Darebin Council recently investigated reports of ASBESTOS AND LEAD CONTAMINATION AT CLEMENTS RESERVE IN RESERVOIR.

This resulted in temporary fencing being placed around the area and also the issue being then referred to the EPA by Council. Concerned residents have also lodged EPA complaints.

WE CALL ON THE DAREBIN CITY COUNCIL TO MAKE THE PRENSA ASBESTOS AND LEAD CONTAMINTATION REPORT IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE TO COUNCIL WORKERS, LOCAL RESIDENTS AND SCHOOLS ALONG WITH THE STATE GOVERNMENT.

Locals are alarmed and concerned that Darebin City Council allowed the open space to be used, possibly for years - knowing  or even suspecting, that it was a potentially contaminated site.

Putting at risk vulnerable children along with local residents, its own staff, and clubs that use the area.

In doing so Darebin Council has potential failed in it's ''DUTY OF CARE'' to both the current and past users of this contaminated reserve.

As a community we request that Council release the report and inform the residents on all actions being taken to remedy and address the CONTAMINATION IN OUR SUBURB - WE DESERVE BETTER THAN DELAYS AND SECRECY
