Aaron Schauer started this petition to Governor Asa Hutchinson and

We have had a victory in the lifting of the curfew.

It is no time to let our voices be heard about another unfair part of the directives forced on bars and restaurants that hold liquor licenses.

We are the only businesses being fined or threatened with closure because of the actions of our patrons.

When THEY decide not to wear their mask...

When THEY decide to not socially distance properly...

When THEY dance...

The owners of bars and restaurants get fined by Arkansas Beverage Control.

Larger chains who should be subject to the same directives, have simply been allowed to choose that they will not enforce these rules without any repercussions...even though the contact tracing shows they are some of the most visited places by those who have been infected.

Out of 3000 ABC COVID compliance checks between June and December, only 2 Wal-Mart Supercenters were visited...even though they hold licenses that should subject them to these fines. Meanwhile, many citations were issued to small business because their patrons were not socially distancing, not masking, or...yes...dancing.

Fining businesses that are already struggling is not a solution and clearly has very little impact on the spread if one examines the numbers. It does have a huge impact on the mental health of those who own or work in this industry.
