Kodie Brown started this petition to Governor Asa Hutchinson and

The Arkansas State flag was designed in 1913 by Willie Hocker, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (and organization of women who descended from soldiers who fought in the revolutionary war, however until 1977 did not allow any women of color to join regardless of ancestors who fought) during this time there was a lot of racism in America. The Arkansas flag’s design is based on the confederate flag’s design (a symbol of racial segregation) We have evolved from this. Instead I think we should change the flag’s design to represent the best thing that’s ever come from the great state of Arkansas.... Johnny Cash. I petition that we change the Arkansas flag to be the album cover of the iconic Johnny Cash album “I Walk the Line”. I think this would help bring the people of Arkansas (and America) closer together and reflect the growth of this beautiful state.
