The CoronaVirus crisis has transformed the way we knew things worked. The economy, politics, industries, businesses, emotions, social fabric, etc. - nothing is left untouched by this new wave of realizations and restrictions.

Even after seeing the current situation of the economy, and knowing that the excise sector has a huge capacity to help via the liquor sale: The government is still showing no sign on interest in taking the leap to allow the online sale and home delivery of liquor.

Fact: The loss of liquor tax revenues -- an estimated 7 billion rupees ($92 million) a day

Everyone is realizing the things that really matter in life: Family, Safety, Security, Productivity, Technology, Community, and many more such things.

While I extended my deepest condolences for people of this world who lost the battle for life against this new enemy, I trust my leaders, scientists, doctors, and my fellow people to get us out of this crisis.

While we're all at home reflecting how this event has shaped our lives forever, we must also take a moment to see the things that are no more acceptable.

__________
One Such Thing is the archaic laws of India preventing the home-delivery of liquor.

Almost all sectors of the Indian economy have transformed their workflows to adapt to the digital wave across the globe. The digital realm has transformed everything around us!

In today's world, any individual can:
Shop online for almost all items
Use Banking Services at his/her fingers
Connect with other people
Request Services
Connect with the government
Expand his/her business
Learn new skills at home
and so much more!

The government must use this opportunity to allow the online sale and home delivery of liquor.

Let us look at the benefits:

1) The virus doesn't spread.
I'm sure most of you must've seen the visuals of people lining up to purchase liquor as soon as the government opened liquor shops. Some lines are 4-5 Km long. Gross violation of the social distancing norms can be observed which was then followed by the police action and force-closing the shops.

All this can be stopped if only a simple home delivery option was allowed.

2) The government can greatly benefit from the sale.
Most people are still very wary of going outside and purchasing liquor. The opening up of online sales and delivery can be a huge boost for government collection.

Fact: The loss of liquor tax revenues -- an estimated 7 billion rupees ($92 million) a day.

3) All other countries do it.
The USA, Canada, and the UK are just 3 examples.

4) More strict age compliance:
No underage individual can purchase liquor since websites/mobile applications can have an Aadhar Based age-confirmation feature. This is almost impossible at physical vendors.

5) Less drunk driving cases.
If people have the ability to be able to order online without going out, it will reduce these cases significantly. (5.1) More safety for people on the roads. :)

6) More jobs for people.
This multi-billion dollar industry will open gates for a lot of jobs in this unexplored sector.

7) Curb Bootlegging.

8) It is a Fundamental Human Right to have the freedom to be able to choose.

For example, if I want to purchase clothes: I have the option to either go to a physical market or just open an online eCommerce store and order.

If I want to order groceries, I have the option to either buy physically from a vendor or to order it online.

The same is the case with a LOT of other products and services.

But, a Sector that has the potential of 7 Billion rupees/day[and this number is only for the government- overall revenue of the Indian liquor Sector is US$52,575m in 2020] is forced to sell its products physically due to archaic laws.

I urge all of you to find the logic in this petition and see how this can be better for you, your loved ones, your community, job seekers, and the government itself.

Thank you.
