Make the Ballard Road Wilton NY safer for everyone

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!

Many serious accidents have occurred on Ballard Road between Route 9 and Traver Road in WIlton NY. That area has a 55 mph speed limit.  There is also inadequate signage and no flashing lights for Ballard Road Elementary School.   Today a NY State Trooper with nearly 30 years of service was killed in front of the elementary school and the NYSP Wilton Barracks.  This was devastating tragedy and the intent of this petition is to help prevent further tragedy.

I am suggesting the following proposal.

1. Lower the speed limit on Ballard Road between Route 9 and the northway overpass to 40 miles per hour

2.  Install flashing light signs  on both sides of ballard road before and after Ballard Road Elementary school and reduce the speed limit to at least 30 mph during school hours and events.

3. Install more street lights as this is a heavily travelled area with pedestrians, bicyclists, industrial, law enforcement, fire services and the elementary school.

4. Rename that stretch of roadway in memory of Trooper Timothy Pratt, who lost his life while serving others.

If you live in wilton, work in wilton, or have children attending Ballard Road Elementary School, please sign this petition.  It will be delivered to the Wilton Town Board, and the Saratoga County Supervisor as a demonstration of public concern, and suggestion that the roadway be changed to be safer for our lovely community.
