Petitioning Superintendent, Biloxi Public Schools Arthur McMillan

Save the Biloxi High School Mascot & Tradition

Excellence  . From All . For All

Mr. McMillan,

As a proud Biloxi High School Indian Alumni, I find it disheartening that we are in a position in which we must defend our time honored traditions of Biloxi High School.  In recent news we have seen that a group is petitioning to take away our Mascot and time honored tradition of headdresses.  Since the beginning of Biloxi High School in 1912, we have been a proud family that honors our rich Native American history and the Biloxi Indian Tribe that once inhabited the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  The BHS Indian mascot and headdress is not to be offensive, rather to show our pride and honor to be able to represent our strong history here in Mississippi.

We are petitioning to save our headdress and mascot, to show our love and support of the BHS tradition.  To not allow them to be removed or taken away by a person ( or people) who seem to know little about our rich culture, history or our beautiful city.  Please Mr. McMillan, keep our Indian tradition alive!
