Peter Spain started this petition to Arsenal FC

As a football fan I am disappointed in Arsenal Football Club's decision to sack 55 members of staff. The club should be taking a more balanced and fair approach to balancing the books. The current difficult economic circumstances should be a reason to keep staff members employed rather than an excuse to reduce costs.

Players recently took a 12.5% pay cut and Arsenal should be transparent about how much this saved compared to the wages reduced by sacking the 55 staff members. I believe those players who entered into this deal did so with the idea that it would save jobs.

According to Newspaper reports, getting into Europe has provided the team with potential extra earnings of £40million. The wages of these staff members would surely represent a very small fraction of this extra income. The owner of the club is a multi -billionaire.

The value added to the club as a result of the scouting decisions of Francis Cagigao should have secured him a job for life (Cesc Fabregas, Hector Bellerin, Gabriel Martinelli (who had been rejected by Man U and Barca)). Instead of enjoying this manna from heaven the club now prefer to line the pockets of super agents.

The decision to sack these staff members goes against the wishes of both players and supporters and should be reversed.
