Another incident which was alleged by the complaintant to be false is the rampant corruption in the Public Distribution System(PDS) known as Ration Shops operated by the Government which provides the essential provisions for the ration card holders. However, various petitions had been filed with the collector alleging the fraud in the quantity of provisions and the same was affirmed by the Collector office and ordered the tahsildar to probe the issue. Also, the officers have been demanding bribe for the Rs. 1000 (Rupees Thousand) promised to Labourer Welfare Board Card Holders by the Central Government.

Simplicity Post by Andrew Sam :

Inspite of Andrew Sam doing his duty rightfully as an ethical and moralistic Journalist and reporting unbiased news in the City for the awareness of its citizen, he has been falsely and fraudulently alleged by M. Sundararajan, Assistant Commissioner, Personal Administration CMC, Coimbatore as 'false' and 'provocative' !

As a journalist, he reported about shortage of food for medical students in the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital and exposed irregularities in the Public Distribution system.

This is a clear attempt to control the media and silence honest journalism, so that the truth won't be revealed, while the Government officials continues to swindle tax payers money which is supposed to reach the poor and needy of our country.

Member of Parliament P R Natarajan has condemned this arrest by asking the Police to stop intimidating the media.

  • Also, MNM Chief Kamal Hasan and DMK Chied M K Stalin have condemned the arrest and demanded immediate release. However the ruling government along with the judiciary seems to be playing foul here with the misuse of the Law and Order.

When an honest and truthful media person is arrested unlawfully based on false charges of spreading rumors, just imagine how a common man could voice his opinion. Are we really in a democracy ?

I urge the citizens of my country to step up for their rights and rights to freedom of speech and strongly condemn this arrest and the misuse of power by Government officials. Andrew's honesty and his commitment to journalism cannot be ignored.

Andrew Sam and SimpliCity, we are with you. Jai Hind !
