The 2021 Year 12 cohort has experienced tremendous hardship this year with the challenges of online learning, associated with Covid-19. We, as a collective, have been stripped from creating many more memories, and further developing social connections in the school environment. In short - we have not been able to receive a normal Year 12 experience. 

Arndell's decision to go back on their promise of allowing us to come back to school for the final, full weeks, has been truely disheartening, and ultimately crushing. This choice has been made despite health advice suggesting that Year 12 students should return to on-site learning, equipped with "full-time access to school campuses and teachers."

Furthermore, the point of a muck up day/celebration day is allowing Year 12 to spend their 'last day' with ALL YEAR GROUPS and to celebrate the conclusion of a difficult, 13-years of schooling. Arndell's decision to remove other year groups from the day, also removes the encouragement and recognition that we would have received from our peers. All previous year groups have been granted 1 day among the 13 years, that was truely dedicated to their achievement and allowed them to actually feel that their time at school, with all succeeding year groups has come to an end. 

The NSW Government rules state, "Students should attend school unless they have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school or they are currently unwell," with Premier Dominic Perrottet stating that returning to school "would help life return to normal as soon as possible." We would love life to return to normal as soon as possible, and the government has now allowed us to... but Arndell has not. 

Allow us to come back for the weeks in preparation to our HSC, as well as giving us some hope for having a fun and memorable last few days of school. 

More than ever, we need a normal year 12 experience, so please let us.
