No Ratepayer Funding for a Rail Trail in New England!

0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!

We call on Armidale Regional Council and Glen Innes Severn Council to refuse to supply any ratepayer funds to maintain or facilitate in any way the proposed Rail Trail in New England.

The NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) have confirmed that the NSW Government WILL NOT fund the ongoing maintenance of any rail trail in the New England area. The DPC also confirmed that the ongoing maintenance of any rail trail would be the liability of Armidale Regional Council and / or Glen Innes Severn Council and its ratepayers. This is unacceptable! Armidale Regional Council and Glen Innes Severn Council are struggling to maintain the infrastructure that they already have and their ratepayers should not be required to fund a rail trail that is arguably just a bike track that would only benefit a small minority.
