At Arlington High School, students were forced to go outside for PE class in 33 degree weather with a wind speed of 3mph making it feel like 32 degrees, which is considered freezing.  We understand that COVID-19 has inspired the outdoor lesson plans, however we are already inside for all of our other classes, and being outside in this weather makes it more likely for students to catch colds and other viral illnesses that could negatively impact their learning. It also makes gym class unenjoyable and difficult to actively participate in while trying to stay warm. So for all these reasons, we ask AHS community leaders to consider allowing students the option of attending PE classes indoors when it is colder than 35 degrees outside.
