Natalie Schorr started this petition to Everett Police Department

June 5th around 4 am, Todd Smith, a dear friend of ours was shot and killed outside of a home in Arlington, Wa. We were having a senior graduation gathering, and at some point he had ended up getting lost on his way back up to a neighboring friends home, and ended up outside of a neighbors home. He simply knocked on the door, and upon not leaving he was shot and killed. He posed no threat, as he was unarmed, and disoriented, and the use of force used in this situation was absolutely unnecessary. A bright, funny, and kind young man was taken away from our community, and has left a hole in all of our hearts. The Snohomish County sheriffs office needs to arrest this man, and he should be charged to the fullest extent. To take a young persons life like that, is more than cruel. Todd had years of amazing experiences to look forward to, let alone his high school graduation a week away.
In the state of Washington, it is illegal to use violent force against another individual without reason to believe you were threatened for your life. An 18 year old boy lost and confused trying to get home was not a threat to anyone’s life. And justice needs to be served for Todd.
