Jason Murtagh started this petition to Arlington Central School District and

The Arlington Central School district is currently enforcing a dress code policy that restricts the ability to wear ANY clothing that depicts a “weapon” on it. This broad and undefined restriction prohibits the ability for a student to wear many patriotic shirts, clothing in support of our military, and police, POW/MIA shirts, fallen soldier shirts and any number of commercial clothing from movies or TV.  To give clear examples of this policy, Fallen Soldier symbol clothing is banned. Any shirt with a picture of a police officer would be banned. A Star Wars shirt with a Jedi holding a saber would be banned. I’m told by the deputy superintendent that this verbal policy becomes written into the official dress code policy in July. To be clear, this dress code policy is a violation of our first amendment rights and a direct deviation from at least 5 Supreme Court decisions. We need to unit and tell the school board of education and district office we won’t stand for our rights being trampled.
