Grassroots Arkansas started this petition to Arkansas State Senate and

We, The People of Little Rock Arkansas, the Community of the Little Rock School District:

1) DEMAND THE IMMEDIATE RELEASE of the Little Rock School District IMMEDIATELY, and

2) DEMAND The Immediate Restoration of Democracy by Establishing a Local, Election in 2019 for the Restoration of Local, Elected Representation of the Little Rock School District.

The State of Arkansas Took Control of the ENTIRE Little Rock School District, formerly the state's largest public school district, on January 28, 2015 under the pretenses of improving the academic achievement (standardized testing scores) in six schools that were labeled as "failing schools" by state standards.

Since January 28, 2015, the State of Arkansas has FAILED to establish a Plan of Action to demonstrate a pathway to improve academic achievement of students in these six schools.

Since January 28, 2015, the State of Arkansas has FAILED to establish Community Trust and Community Engagement to assist in improving the academic achievement of students in these six schools.

Since January 28, 2015, the State of Arkansas has FAILED The People of Little Rock through state imposed disenfranchisement, Taking Away Our Right to Vote and Our Right to Elect Representation from our community for the purposes of representing our interests in the lives of our children, our schools and our community.

Since January 28, 2015, the State of Arkansas has FAILED The Parents and Children of Little Rock and the Little Rock School District by Closing Four of (4) our Neighborhood Schools.  And, in January, the State of Arkansas decided to Close and Combine Eight (8) More of our Neighborhood Schools WITHOUT PERMISSION, WITHOUT SUPPORT, and WITHOUT THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE OF LR.

The State of Arkansas selected a Commissioner of Education who has been empowered to FAIL the Little Rock School District Community by: 1) Refusing to meet with parents, guardians, students, and by community supporters who have demonstrated interest in assisting in developing a plan to help improve academic outcomes by supporting schools in need; 2)  Refusing to work with the Little Rock School District Community to develop a plan to save and protect schools from closing and to protect Little Rock neighborhoods from losing one its most valuable resources; 3) and, by Refusing to Develop A Plan to Restore Democracy to the Little Rock School District Community to elect local, representation from within the people of the Little Rock School District who have proven to be supporters of public education, public schools and who have demonstrated themselves as stakeholders in the improvement of all of the public schools of the LRSD.

Most recently, the State of Arkansas has Further Undermined The Will of the People of Little Rock by establishing SB668 that, if passed and signed into law, will continue giving the State of Arkansas the POWER TO FAIL the Little Rock School District and its Community, which is the Entire City of Little Rock, for four more years (nine, 9, years total).

The state of Arkansas is acting with IMMORALITY, UNETHICAL, and UNJUST governance as it pertains to HUMAN RIGHTS, HUMAN JUSTICE in the lives of not only the People of Little Rock, but in the entire state by FAILING DEMOCRACY, through FAILURE to Morally, Humanely, and Justly Interpret the Constitution of the State of Arkansas and of the United States of America.

We, The People of Little Rock Arkansas, the Community of the Little Rock School District, DEMAND THE RELEASE OF THE Little Rock School District IMMEDIATELY, and DEMAND The Immediate Restoration of Democracy by Establishing a Local, Election in 2019 for the Restoration of Local, Elected Representation of the Little Rock School District.
