For the last 40+ years, one thing has remained a constant at the Arkansas State Championship Horse Show:  the voice of Sam Mooneyham.

With his deep booming voice echoing off the walls, many contestants equate the State Show with hearing Sam exclusively. He “is” the State Show to a vast majority. He knows the history, the families, and has seen more kids grow up in this event to return with their own kids and grandkids than probably anyone else.

2022, however, could be a vastly different experience. This month the State Horse Show  voted to remove Sam from the Announcer’s booth. It was a tie vote, but the deciding factor was not in his favor. Let’s send a message to our Board of Directors to let them know how much Sam means to us and request that they bring him back, if not until he chooses on his own to retire, then at least for one more year so we can send him off in style with a celebration of all he has given to us and to show him our appreciation! Such a huge presence spanning over 40 years deserves that much at the very least.

The Cubs had Harry Caray and our State Show has Sam Mooneyham. Their “Holy Cow” is our “Awww Shucks”. Sam is an institution and deserves better. Let’s show him our support by signing this petition.
