PETITION AGAINST AGFC PROPOSED REGULATION OUTLAWING TRANSFER OF BAITFISH
To the members of the AGFC commission: We, the undersigned, are AGAINST the proposed regulation to outlaw the transfer of baitfish in Arkansas.
We respectfully request Arkansas Game and Fish Commission reject the proposed regulation printed as follows:
“IT IS UNLAWFUL TO USE WILD CAUGHT BAITFISH UNLESS THE BAIT WAS CAUGHT WITHIN THE WATER BODY BEING FISHED OR IN ITS WATERSHED ABOVE THE LAKE.”
We are further against and respectfully request AGFC refuse to consider any other interpretation or wording of a regulation that would restrict live bait transport including from the Arkansas River and any other waterways within the state of Arkansas. We are also against any wording which would deem transport of live bait within the state of Arkansas as a felony or any other kind of criminal offense.
We support the sport of trophy striped bass fishing in the State of Arkansas. We support the employed responsible hard working fishing personnel, customers and businesses (TOURISM, resorts, marinas, restaurants, gift shops, gas stations, etc.) thriving from this fishing sport in Arkansas.
