Arizona State University has elected, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, to cancel all graduation ceremonies for the graduating class of Spring 2020. Instead, we are being given a substitution in the form of an "online celebration", with the option to attend a different graduating class' commencement either this December or next May. This is highly unacceptable and insulting to the students who have worked hard for their moment to shine. Arizona State University owes it to their graduates to honor them in the proper ceremonies. Therefore, Arizona State University should move all Spring 2020 commencement and convocation ceremonies to a time period between July and September 2020, to properly celebrate the students they are currently abandoning.
