Christian Creech started this petition to Executive Director of The Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board Matt Giordano

As a Phoenix resident, I figured the most effective way of making change in our country is starting off locally. Right now in our country there is great injustice in every corner, and the only way we can defeat the issue is in a slow continuous process.

Currently in the Phoenix Police Department all policemen have not been trained on how to deal with their own racial and implicit biases, nor are they screened for having such biases in the first place. According to the Advancement Project, a minority rights activist organization, a crucial part in preventing systemic racism within the police force is to educate the policemen on what these are. If these issues are not addressed policemen will continue to bias against minorities and will be more likely to target minorities. This is not only an issue for African Americans, but other minorities as well.

Although words can provoke different opinions or thoughts, only actions will make change in this country!

Note: Implicit Bias is defined by stereotypes or generalizations on a thing or group of people people slowly learn based on experience. It is unconscious, however can be extremely malleable
