Hello, I am Jake Pafford, I am 14 years old, I have wanted a Fennec Fox for a while but the laws in Phoenix AZ prevent it, before you say “A Fox!!! He’s crazy!” hear me out,

Fennec Foxes, the smallest and best tempered of all foxes are legal as pets in some states but not Arizona. Fennec Foxes are amazing animals and has been known to act like a dog and cat, making them the perfect pet. The Fennec Fox or Fennec (Vulpes zerda) is a somewhat exotic animal but can be considered a good pet. Experts say they are social animals and with the proper environment can be a good house pet. This desert fox is known for its signature large ears and of all the fox species to choose from it's the most popular "pet" fox in the Fox family. Fennec Foxes are the most social of all foxes and need an outlet for their endless energy. Fennecs bond with their first owner or family much like a dog and become inseparable, owning a Fennec is not for everyone and because they bond to their first owner, once you get one you shouldn’t give it to anyone else. Fennecs require room to run around and require lots of attention. You have to make sure you have time to play and socialize with them. If you have the time for them they can make amazing pets and be a great addition to your family. Fennec foxes are the size of a small cat weighing in at around 2-4 pounds max. In some states Fennec Foxes are listed as a “companion pet” like a cat or a dog, in others they are listed as exotic pets. Fennecs are happy kept alone, or interacting with the family cat or dog (as long as the dog is not a hunting species- the dog's reaction to the Fennec will be the same as it would be to any small prey animal, not to another dog.) They do not need to be kept in pairs. As a matter of fact, they may not even acknowledge another Fennec's presence, let alone play with it, unless they are a bonded breeding pair. Fennec Foxes can be walked on a leash like a dog, with lots of work they can even be litter-box trained like a cat. Some people may call owning a Fennec Fox inhumane, but the truth is they are bread in captivity just like cats and dogs. What is inhumane is when people buy wild Fennecs that where caught in nature because they are cheaper. Owning a Fennec Fox from a good Breeder is like owning a cat or dog, it will take some hard work and lots of love but these animals can be an amazing addition of your family.

Please help me on my mission of making Fennecs legal in Arizona by signing my petition and sharing it with your family and friends and sharing it on social media. I would really appreciate your help. Thank you
