Ron Hatchard started this petition to Arizona Governor Doug Ducey

Matthew L. Hatchard is my only child, his mother passed away in April, 2017 of ovarian cancer. Matthew is currently in prison in California and is due to be released on May 4, 2020 from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation after serving 9 years for a felony crime. He is required to serve a minimum of 6 years in the Arizona prison system for a related crime in Arizona when he is released in May of this year from California. During sentencing in the Arizona case, the presiding judge would not make his time concurrent with his California sentence.

I'm submitting this petition asking the governor of Arizona to credit Matthew's California time served to his Arizona sentence so that he may be released from prison when his sentence has been completed in California.

Matthew is will be 34 years old in April. He was young outstanding citizen before being sent to prison in 2011. Has never drank, smoked, did drugs or anything against the law. He was a computer technician with a Fortune 500 firm and technically brilliant in his field. Throughout his incarceration he has been supported by family, friends and loved ones. To be incarcerated for an additional six years would be deter-mental to him, his friends, family and serve no purpose in his rehabilitation, but instead cripple him mentally with undo punishment. He has been a model prison while being in California and has earned many commendations from his guards, instructors and counselors in the prisons he has been in. He is a born again Christian and has served the Lord through his Christian fellowship with other prisoners. Serving more time in Arizona will deprive him of more of his prime years left  to reestablish himself with society and the family that is still available to share his life with.
