Demand removal of dishonest television commercial.

The Arizona Free Enterprise club is an anonymous, Dark-money political organization that is responsible for funding and creating Proposition 487 in Phoenix Arizona. This initiative will be decided upon by Phoenix voters and appears on this years November 4 ballot.

Prop 487 claims to be "Pension Reform" but experts hired by the City of Phoenix to analyze and interpret Prop 487 found it will have a variety of secondary effects on the citizens of Phoenix that include:

-An implementation cost of $385 million to Phoenix taxpayers*

-Will negate over $600 million in pension reform already in place*

-Subject Phoenix to multiple, costly legal battles*

Of key importance to this petition is the fact that this same report also revealed that Prop 487 will have profound effects on the retirement benefits of both active and retired Police Officers and Firefighters. THIS INCLUDES THE REMOVAL OF DEATH AND DISABILITY BENEFITS FOR POLICE OFFICERS AND FIREFIGHTERS KILLED OR INJURED IN THE LINE OF DUTY*. Under Prop 487 if a first responder were killed in the line of duty, it would be the same as if he or she simply quit their job.

A new television commercial by the Yes on 487 campaign  makes the ridiculous claim that Prop of 487 will be "Good for Firefighters" and "Good for Police Officers", it also claims prop 487 will "protect" them. As expected, these claims were not substantiated by any data nor were they endorsed by any public safety member or organization.

We the undersigned demand the Arizona Free Enterprise Club and the Phoenix Pension Reform Act remove this shameful and dishonest commercial immediately. It is an outrage that these covert political organizations make such dishonest claims and market their campaign on the backs of hard working and dedicated first responders. Many of whom have given the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the communities they serve. This commercial is an insult to those who protect us and the surviving families of fallen Police Officers and Firefighters in Phoenix.
