Please join us in asking Arizona's Congressional delegation to oppose harmful cuts or changes to Medicaid.

Veterans, children, seniors, people with disabilities, and other Arizonans will have no place to turn for affordable coverage and the health care they need if Medicaid is weakened or changed in ways that lead to the loss of Medicaid assistance.

In Arizona, cuts to Medicaid could have devastating impacts. Right now:

  • Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provide health and long-term coverage to more than 1.8 million people.
  • Children make up half of our Medicaid enrollment.
  • 19% of Medicaid participants are seniors and the disabled.
  • 146,000 Medicare beneficiaries rely on Medicaid for assistance.
  • Medicaid provides coverage for 45,000 veterans.

Additionally, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has used Medicaid to fund innovative approaches for solving major public health and safety issues in Arizona. He is counting on Medicaid to help implement his Opioid Action Plan to treat addiction and prevent overdoses. He points to Medicaid as a key tool to reduce recidivism as he works to enroll inmates in Medicaid coverage prior to their release. And his Administration is pursuing strategies to help young adults who aged out of foster care enroll in Medicaid and stay covered in addition to connecting permanent guardianship families with Medicaid to help provide stable homes for abused and neglected children.

Which underscores the fact that any debate around Medicaid should not be dictated by partisan politics or political expediency. Cutting Medicaid or repealing the ACA will have a “ripple effect” that will be felt by millions of people across the state.

Children's Action Alliance ask you to please sign this petition asking Arizona's Congressional Delegation to oppose any funding cuts or harmful reforms to Medicaid.
