Are You Part of the Smokefree 2010 Challenge?
Twenty-one states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico have answered the American Lung Association's Smokefree Air 2010 Challenge by passing comprehensive smokefree air laws that protect almost all workers from exposure to secondhand smoke. This is tremendous progress. Unfortunately, there are still communities and states that do not have smokefree air laws, leaving millions of Americans exposed to potentially lethal secondhand smoke in restaurants, workplaces, and other public places.
With your help and our aggressive campaign, we can achieve our goal of a Smokefree U.S. by 2010! But, we can only do it if you help keep the pressure on their elected officials. Not only do smokefree laws reduce exposure to secondhand smoke, but they also increase the number of people who quit smoking and also discourage kids from starting to smoke.
Please help us reach our goal of 10,000 signatures by signing the petition today!
I support the American Lung Association's Smokefree Air 2010 Challenge and call on state and local policymakers to protect all people from the dangers of secondhand smoke now.
Please make my community smokefree. A smokefree community:
*protects all workers and patrons from the dangers of secondhand smoke. People should not have to risk their lives through exposure to secondhand smoke in order to make a living.
*reduces the death and disease associated with secondhand smoke.
*motivates smokers to quit.
*reduces the number of people who start smoking.
All Americans deserve to work, study and play in smokefree environments. <!-- close ga-campaignClosing --><!-- CC target info -->
