Complete the Ledaig section of the NCN78 cycle route

This petition had 564 supporters

At the Ardchattan Community Council meeting on 27th June 2017 the plans to complete the section of Sustrans cycle pathway no 78 from Craigneuk corner, Benderloch, going south to Connel bridge were discussed.

The very large turnout of interested public members expressed the view that the route should be completed along the disused railway line, as the safest and most sensible and practical route.

To encourage support from the Council, and to support Sustrans, it has been decided to circulate this petition to be presented initially to the Community Council at their meeting on 22nd August and thereafter to Sustrans and the next Area Committee meeting of Argyll and Bute Council on 13th September.

We are therefore seeking your support for the the following actions:

1. Ask Scotways (Scottish Rights of Way and Access Society) to determine if the disused railway line between Craigneuk corner, south to the permanent travellers caravan site at the access road to the airfield, meets the criteria for being accepted as a “Right of Way” under the Common law of Scotland.
2. Request that our local Councillors, actively work towards establishing the above part of the disused railway line to become part of the Argyll and Bute Council “Core Path Network.”
3. Contact Sustrans directly to demonstrate public support for the valuable multi-user path, and show active support for completion of the route south of Craigneuk corner, recognising that the proposed route along the disused railway line is not only the most suitable, but also the safest and most practical route for users of all ages.
