Do Not Close the Haitian Elders Program at Catholic Charities (Yawkey Center-Boston)

As of this July 27, 2017, the Elders Program/Haitian Multi Service Center will be shut down. We need to keep this program running in the community.
The program aims to reduce isolation among elderly Haitian immigrants, strengthening their individual health and well being, while also encouraging community bonds both within and outside the Haitian immigrant community. The elder drop-in program meets 4 hours a day, Monday through Thursday. Daily, they are provided with English lessons, Civic lessons to help pass the citizenship test, exercise, nutritious meals, arts and crafts projects and an environment to socialize with their peers. They also provided with monthly food from our pantry and case management helping them to acquire other resources such as cell phone, SNAP benefits, doctor appointments, health insurance, etc.
We urge you - Haitian or not, young or old - to stand with us in raising our voice to keep this program up and running.
