Amid the recent coronavirus outbreak in the United States, Washington State had been hit the hardest. Dozens of people have contracted the deadly disease, and a few have even lost their lives. As a result, I would request that those in charge of Glacier Peak and Archbishop Murphy High Schools close down for the duration of the outbreak.

Our parents are especially vulnerable to this deadly disease. They are not young, and many of underlying conditions that would leave them vulnerable to the coronavirus. Therefore, it is imperative that we close the school before the infection spreads there too - not only for our own health, but for the health of our parents, grandparents, and loved ones.

One other factor to consider is the fact that the coronavirus is not as easily identifiable as one might think. The virus's symptoms don't always manifest themselves in their carriers right away. Some people that carry the virus are asymptomatic, and have no idea that they are spreading the disease around. As a result, it is possible that some of our students, faculty, or staff already have the disease without even realizing it. Without a proper test, there is no way to know for sure.

The virus is spreading rapidly, and the last thing we should do is wait around for it while doing nothing. We need to be as vigilant as we possibly can. We need to protect ourselves, our parents, and our community while we still have a chance. As we speak, this virus continues to spread. The sooner we do something about it, the better.
