Another excruciating instance of poor management and leadership in the Catholic Church, where youth are subjected to abuse by clergy.
In 2003 Fr. Michael Fugee was convicted of criminal sexual contact for allegedly fondling a 14-year-old boy's genitals on two occasions. As a result, a court ordered lifetime ban on contact with children was imposed upon Fr. Fugee. Fast forward to 2013 - Archbishop Myers of Newark permits Fr. Fugee to have contact with youth within his diocese.
The Newark Star Ledger writes "Archbishop Myers shows a pattern of leniency toward pedophiles, indifference to potential victims, and a haughty disdain for those who dare to question his judgment."
Send a message to Archbishop Myers, and to others in the Catholic Clergy; let them know that there are consequences for those that enable child abuse. Let them know that the continued practice of shifting and reassigning those that would abuse a child in their flock will not be tolerated.
For too long the catholic church has relied upon apathy among the faithful and financial payouts as paths to healing.
