CONSERVING OUR HERITAGE

Cultural heritage is the legacy of physical science artefacts and intangible attributes of a group or society that are inherited from past generations, maintained in the present and bestowed for the benefit of future generations. Cultural heritage includes tangible culture (such as buildings, monuments, landscapes, books, works of art, and artefacts), intangible culture (such as folklore, traditions, language, and knowledge), and natural heritage (including culturally significant landscapes, and biodiversity).

There are 36 (28 cultural, 7 natural and 1 mixed) World Heritage Sites in India that are recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as of August 2017.These are places of importance of cultural or natural heritage as described in the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, established in 1972.

Conserving heritage is really very important as without heritage, there will not be any family history or a culture to guide us. No one will know the meaning of religion.

If we don’t conserve the Indian heritage, a time will come when history will not make sense. It will take the form of unproven stories of different versions. Most of the things that we know about the past will become myths rather than facts.

By signing this petition we ask the Heritage Conservation Committee and Archaeological Survey of India(ASI) to take major steps to conserve a rich heritage , not let anyone tocause any sort of damge to it. We also ask the authorities, to declare the act of causing damage to heritage sites as one of the major punishable offences in the country. There is also a need to repair the sites which are already been damaged by either or love couples or any sort of anti-social elements.

So I request you all to take this pledge and sign & share this petition to spread the message of conserving our rich heritage.

PLEDGE

I am proud of the rich culture and heritage of India.
I will respect all monuments which are a part of my country’s heritage.
I will not scribble, deface or encroach upon any monument.
I pledge to render all possible help to conserve and preserve our heritage.
I along with my school mates will endeavour to save and protect the heritage.

I invite you all to take a pledge that we will conserve our heritage for our forthcoming generations.

Thanks
