This is outrageous. This amounts to curtailing the freedom of expression. Taking artistic images without even touching the monuments is similar to making sketches , making paintings, and even writing poetry . Inspiration to an artist comes in many forms just by being in those magnificent ruins which are our pride possessions .
This reflection in various forms will only help in attracting more people to Hampi and in nurturing a sense of belongingness in our history and culture which will have a greater impact in the health of the society , which is the fundamental goal of good governance.
Any monument should not be treated as a profit making business. Maintenance of the monument and the staff can always be done by a nominal entry fee.
No need to take up development ( read it has money making civil activities) activities in ruins .
Dictating what to do what not do is an autocratic attitude which should not be tolerated. It is high time to protest.
Tomorrow they may also question us for writing poetry on a national pride ( read , belur, halebeed, tajmahal ,gomateshwara etc.,) and publish.
If we look into the history of conservation of the ruins of Hampi and it's star status among ruins across the world, photographic documentation and photographic publications have a very large impact in understanding and appreciating, the wonder it is, from ages , yes !! even before archeological survey of India was constituted Hampi was photographed . ASI was constituted in 1861 , but way before that in 1857 ,yes no typing mistake 1857 , Hampi's prominent monuments were photographed by Alexander Greenlaw. The world came to know about this magnificent ruins not because of ASI but solely because of the wonderful images taken by various artists who visited the ruins through the ages and through the travelogues of the inspired visitor.
