The city of Arcata deals with a severe level of homelessness for a city of its size. Being locally born and raised in Arcata, I have been a first-hand witness to this ongoing issue throughout my 30 years of living here. There have been many efforts  over the years to combat homelessness and provide resources, specifically housing, however most of the work has unfortunately been temporary fixes. With this new proposal the city of Arcata is working with The Danco Group and Arcata House Partnership to convert two Valley West hotels into adequate housing for our homeless community. The proposal goes to vote before the city planning commission on December 14th and the Arcata city council on December 15th. With you support we can get this proposal passed and take the steps towards establishing a substantial and permanent housing solution for our homeless residents.
