Why this petition matters

Started by Better Communities

Dear Arcadia City Council Members, City Staff and Police Chief,

In light of the recent rising of violent attacks against the Asian communities, we are very much disheartened and feeling it is harming our whole nation.  As residents of Arcadia, we appreciate the efforts from our city and the law enforcement to always protect us and keep us safe. While most of us are safe in our city, our hearts go to all the victims in other areas. We call for unity and solidarity near and far. We want to urge our city to join the neighboring cities in taking a stand to condemn those acts of violences and crimes against the AAPI communities.

Arcadia has a large Asian population, we will take comfort in knowing our city is standing with us and we are ready to deal with any unforeseen incidents. Many municipal governments around us all sent out statements loud and clear that there is no place for discrimination, racism and violence in their cities. Some are organizing workshops or seminars. It is vital for all our residents to be united under your strong leadership and that we take all necessary precautions to prevent and handle any violence against our community.

Thank you,

Arcadia residents
