Commissioner Says No To Closing Shore Blvd.

Peter Argyris
Astoria, NY, United States

Nov 11, 2015 — New York City Department of Traffic Commissioner Polly Trottenberg was present at the meeting of Astoria Civic Association held at Riccardo's in Astoria. I presented the petition to both Commissioner Trottenberg and to Queens Borough Commissioner Nicole Garcia. Commissioner Trottenberg declared that there are no plans for closing Shore Blvd. They will be looking in the area for enhanced safety issues as we have been advocating all along but closing the strip is out of the question. Her declaration is a victory for us. She was also kind enough to congratulate me on my success with this petition. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for signing the petition and for your wonderful comments. Without your signature and input, this would not have been possible. Many influential people congratulated me as well. Even though I recieved congratulations, the credit goes to each and everyone of you who took the time out to sign and to promote this petition. Once again Thank you All Astorians, and friends for your continued support and special Thanks to members of Planning Board 1 and to members of the Astoria Civic Association for their support as well as their invitation to present the petition over to Commissioners Trottenberg & Garcia. This petition will continue to be open despite this great victory so everyone will see our hard work and struggle for generations to come as well as an archive just in case this comes up again years down the road. Thank You All!! God Bless You All & God Bless Astoria!!! :)
