Swipe Out Hunger at the University of Minnesota: Twin Cities

Students, let me ask you a question: At the end of the week or the semester, how many meals do you have left on your dining hall plan?
Each University Dining Service meal plan comes with a set number of “swipes” into the dining hall that expire either at the end of the week or the semester. If a student does not utilize the entire plan by the set deadline, then his or her paid meal “swipes” would expire without reimbursement.
Swipe Out Hunger would allow students with the opportunity to donate any remaining meal plan swipes to students undergoing food insecurity and malnutrition during a semester “swipes” drive. The money obtained would be distributed among food insecure students, local food pantries, and local charities through dining hall meal reimbursements. This initiative is currently running on 26 campuses nationwide. The University of Southern California (USC) has raised over $20,000 each semester in dining hall dollars and donated the money to local charities working to reduce student food insecurity and homelessness.
Please sign this petition to show your support in implementing a simple way to reduce food insecurity and hunger on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus and community through the University Dining Hall Services operated by Aramark.
