The immediate purpose of this petition is display to the leadership of Aquinas College that there is overwhelming support for a COVID-19 vaccine mandate at Aquinas College for all students, staff, and faculty. Although subject to change due to evolving circumstances at the College, this petition also seeks a COVID-19 vaccination deadline of October 15th (for either first dose or single dose vaccines) and October 30th (for a second dose if required). At the heart of this petition is concern for the health, safety, and overall wellbeing of the whole population. The COVID-19 vaccine has been FDA approved and recommended by all governmental health organizations. Beyond this, the overwhelming desire to leave COVID-19 in the pages of history and return to a sense of normalcy not only in the classroom, but in our everyday lives in general can be seen as the overarching long term goal of this petition. All that being said, without cooperation of Aquinas College leadership, specifically the Aquinas College Board of Trustees, there is little more students, staff, and faculty can do to stop the spread of COVID-19 without sacrificing some of the freedoms, activities, and opportunities that Aquinas exists to provide in the first place.
