Help Us Get Our Principal Out Of Our School

The APS board, the staff, and the fellow administration at Frederick Douglass High School has turned a blind eye to us. They've ignored the cries of bewildered teachers, scared parents, and most of all, their students. Thursday on September 30th, on the school campus, there was an organized protest against our current principal, Mr. Artesza Portee, for committing at least TWO, if not the other eight alleged cases of sexual misconduct. One against a former teacher at Douglass, and another against a freshman that attends the school. This is unacceptable, and we won't, and never will, tolerate having such a man in our school, especially as a principal.
APS reportedly spent $75,000 investigating Mr. Portee. According to WSB-TV 2, "The dispute began when a subordinate at Douglass accused Portee of fondling her two years earlier at Sylvan Hills Middle School, where Portee was principal and his accuser worked in an after-school program." and yet, even after all this, he was selected as a principal at Frederick Douglass. The money being used to investigate him could have been invested into the school, where most of the students attending are living in low income households. It could've been invested in better lunches, school supplies, or other misc. things to help students learn, because that's what school is for, right? But, instead, it was spent on a principal who doesn't and SHOULDN'T be in a school setting and around children, and even if the case was alleged, we don't believe he should've been allowed in the school or have the job until the case was FULLY and THOROUGHLY investigated. The only punishment he was given was an about month suspension without pay, which is a slap in the face to our female and feminine scholars, staff, and teachers, and yet only a slap in the wrist for him.
And for this i will say... we want him out, out of our school, and out of a job. Because right now, the school is a very unsafe environment with him around, and many females and young women have reported being uncomfortable staying at the school, and quite frankly, I don't blame them. He's a danger and downright damaging to this school, and all faculty and students. We want him out, and we want him punished for his crimes.
