First of all, the reason this is so important to me is because my husband of 21 years is currently serving a 13 year plea sentence. He is a first time offender of ANY crime! He was classified today and they told him his charge was considered in the 85% rule. I don’t want to get into all the details of what happened but just know that there are people in jail with plea deals with their side of their story and the sad part is that theirs (defenders) stories never get to be heard! My husband is 49 years old and until now had NO RECORD! Something needs to be done about this! It’s not fair to a first time offender and ONLY time!! There are people with more serious violent crimes that have less time than my husband! We have two children that this is affecting as well. It’s affecting my family in all aspects, financially, mentally, and emotionally. So will you PLEASE stand with me on this issue and let’s get this petition filled up!
