In residential eating disorder treatment the kitchen is the most grueling place for anyone with an eating disorder. Staff tables are designed for people who need extra support and/or surveillance during meal times. Some end up on staff tables due to the usage of triggering behaviors, such as body checking, tearing food, and excessive eye contact. This can be detrimental to those pursuing recovery because it is triggering by nature and these behaviors can lead to a sense of competitiveness and learning new behaviors to fuel their eating disorder. Other reasons people would be on staff tables include being new to the program and struggling to complete meals, especially those with a high meal plan. 

A second staff table in the kitchen would provide a safe place for both Madie, and Alannah to complete meals and focus on their recovery's. They both have struggled with the social, and mental trials and tribulations of sitting with others struggling to manage behaviors at meal times. The biggest struggles for Madie and Alannah are the exacerbations of physical symptoms associated with eating disorders. Adding another staff table for those who would qualify would greatly impact their completion rate, and recovery, leading to a proper discharge to a lower level of care.
