Why this petition matters

Introduction

For some time, the blind and visually impaired community has been increasing in number. However, a lot of them have felt the burdens of this world such as school, work, and money loss cause more stress than relief. I myself know of these burdens because I too am visually impaired. My name is Brittany, and I’m 21 years old. Although, I’m only partially sighted whereas many are completely blind, I have only found one thing that helps me relieve the stresses of life’s hardships- audio games.

What is an audio game?

An audio game is simply defined as a game that is designed for the blind community as well as the sighted community to enjoy. Although a sighted person might not see any graphics, that person will still be able to learn the functions of the game and play it using audio cues. Many of these games have been taken off of various platforms such as Apple’s App Store, etc. I can’t speak for the entire blind community, but I’m sure they would agree that this gesture is a bit unfair considering that there are many visual games on these different platforms. It is scientifically proven that games help the individual relax and exercise the mind. I’m sure others on the blind community would also agree that audio games are a great source of entertainment.

Why am I writing this?

Im writing this due to some particular apps that were removed from Apple’s App Store some years back. These games were developed by a company called Something Else. The names of these apps are as follows; Audio Defense, Papa Sangre, Papa Sangre II, and The Night Jar. I’m simply asking for someone to see my point of view and help these apps to be brought back in the lives of those that it matters most to.
