Afro-textured hair is the natural hair texture for black people. We are born with it, although some of us choose to alter this by using chemicals, hair straighteners etc.
Emojis are used by everyone to express themselves in electronic messages and social networks. They are supported on macOS, Windows, iOS, Android etc.
There is an emoji to represent almost every feeling, person, actions and more. Recently, Apple announced that to mark Emoji Day, it will introduce beards, headscarves and breastfeeding emoji (https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/jul/17/world-emoji-day-apple-unveiling-new-symbols-bearded-person-breastfeeding-sandwich-zombies-t-rex-ios-11
Unfortunately all emojis representing black people, especially women have Eurocentric features, in particular straight hair. We want to solve this. We want emojis of African women with afro textured hair, because majority of us that embrace our God-given beauty are not represented.
Please support this petition as it will be a step forward to educating black people and our community that afro-textured hair is our crown, it is professional, it is beautiful and we were born with it.
Let's not forget World Afro Day is Friday, 15th September 2017. Search the web for planned events for the day.
