We hear and support Appalshop and Roadside Theater's July 24, 2021 statement of transparency and accountability. Further, we are aware of credible allegations of worker abuse made public in multiple employee statements related to Appalshop and Roadside.

As a community of fellow artists, nonprofit workers, students, educators, journalists, and concerned citizens, we commit to holding Appalshop and Roadside accountable to their promises of transparency and accountability—to past and present workers, and to us.

We will help Appalshop and Roadside leaders repair gaps in workplace equity, countering propaganda with our own complex experiences in order to tell a more complete history of this institution and its leaders.

And we will continue to demand top-down accountability from all Appalshop and Roadside leaders in order to ensure the safety and dignity of all its employees, trainees, and community partners.
