Customers have been and may be unknowingly paying Instacart an additional 10% on their grocery delivery orders due to an unannounced "service charge" which was clandestinely built into the UI/UX of the company's latest releases of it's mobile app. Customers were never properly notified of the charges nor was this feature advertised within Instacart's marketing or promotional literature. The new feature, though optional, is defaulted to a 10% charge and has been built into the application such that, visually, it appears to have replaced the "Tip" CTA. As a result, many customers who normally tip a standard 10% simply accept the charge only to find out later, that their shoppers / deliverers never received it. Transparency in commerce is a Consumer right and legal obligation for the Merchant or third party transactor for the Merchant. Sign this petition if you are a customer of Instacart and have unknowingly paid their "Service Charge" in the belief that you were paying a "Tip" to your shopper, if you wish to see the tip option featured within it's original checkout dialogue and clearly differentiated from the Service Charge and lastly that the Service Charge be set to a default setting of 0%.
