            Save the Animals

Habitat loss poses the greatest threat to species. The world's forests, swamps, plains, lakes, and other habitats continue to disappear as they are harvested for human consumption and cleared to make way for agriculture, housing, roads, pipelines and the other hallmarks of industrial development. Without a strong plan to create terrestrial and marine protected areas important ecological habitats will continue to be lost. Stop habitat destruction! Orangutans, Tigers, Elephants, and Rhinos are just four out of many that are becoming extinct due to habitat destruction.

Over the past 500 years, 800 species have become extinct through human activity. Not only from habitat destruction but also from pollution, Deforestation, urbanization, and over hunting. According to the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature (formerly World Wildlife Funding). Habitat destruction causes 85% of the world’s extinct species. Reduced biodiversity in plantations. For example, nearly 80 mammal species are found in Malaysia's primary forests. In contrast, disturbed forests have just over 30 mammal species, while oil palm plantations have only 11 or 12 (Wakker 1998, in Clay (2004) "World Agriculture & Environment"). Similar species reductions occur for insects, birds, reptiles and soil microorganisms” according to the WWF. Imagine if someone just came to your home and bulldozed it down without warning or even telling you in time for you to get out before they do.

Palm oil plantations in the tropical regions of Africa, Latin America, and Asia have led the large scale destruction of important habitat for many species. The largest growth of palm oil plantations has been in Malaysia and Indonesia where large tracts of rainforest are cleared to grow palm oil crops. The indiscriminate use of poisons to eliminate rats within oil palm plantations, which also poison other animals  like Orangutans, Tigers, Elephants, and Rhinos,  attempting to recolonize plantations.

Many more then the Orangutans, tigers, elephants, and rhinos are becoming extinct due to habitat destruction. Signing this petition against habitat destruction, you can help hundreds of harmless animals get off the extinction list and be able to live longer, happily and safely. By signing this petition you are helping stop palm oil plantations, which are wiping out beautiful animals all around the world. You can also go to and donate money to help the animals who have been effected by habitat destruction and help them become healthy again. Help save harmless animals today!
