Let Katie Hardin ride at Oregon Horse Center

Katie has been a huge supporter of Major Defoe (Oregon Horse Center’s Owner) since she was a little girl. Ever since Major owned a western store in Springfield. When she started her Custom Leathers business in 2009 her first sponsorship donation was to the Eugene Pro Rodeo. She has sponsored every year since then; except this year (2017). Major would not allow her on his property due to financial issues that stemmed from an account hack. Katie was a victim of identity theft on 12/9/16.
Back story: Katie is a barrel racer and has ridden horses since she was 6 years old. In years past she would ride and practice at Oregon Horse Center in Eugene (OHC). Major started hosting barrel races there in 2016, of which Katie participated. When she’s earn money from races she’d mobile deposit those checks into her account from her phone; (just as anyone else would do.) When her account was hacked the hacker took her account information and when she’d deposit these race checks the hacker would deposit into their account as well. On Katie’s end in her account in looked normal as if the check was deposited fine. On the check owners end it looked as if the check was double deposited and it affected their account as such. When Katie was alerted to this by Heather at OHC, she immediately notified her bank and all funds were returned that were taken fraudulently. But not before the hackers got away with $1200 of Katie’s money, $800 of another producers money and $300 of Major’s money. It took less than 12 hours for her bank to return the stolen money. The other producer understood but Major did not. Major assumes Katie maliciously took his money and intentionally double deposited into her own account. Katie has a notorized letter from her bank explaining the bank error, a print off of her account activity from her bank and has continued to try to call, email and message Major to get her riding privileges back. As he told her “this is where we part ways, and I don’t want you on my property.” He has told race produces that rent his facility that Katie is not allowed and that he’ll revoke their ability to produce races there if they let her enter.
This petition is an attempt to let people know what’s going on and to show Major the love and support Katie still has out there. Your signature would mean a great deal to a gal, who’s little girl dreams were crushed by one phone call from a man she’s loved and supported for years.
