Stop sand mining in East Gippsland

Stop sand mining in East Gippsland
The Fingerboards mine has not yet been approved by the Victorian Government, but after several years of exploration, Kalbar believes the site would be suitable for an open cut mine to extract minerals including zircon, rutile and ilmenite — a titanium mineral.
Reasons to stop the mine
The mine will be to close to the Lindenow flats and will be on the other side of the Mitchell river. Vegetable farms will be contaminated from the dust from the mine. Vegetables will be not of high quality.
Water to be used by the mine will be sourced from the Mitchell River. Leaving farmers with less water.
The mine will also be neighbouring cattle and sheep farms. Noise and dust will have an affect on the animals
The site of the mine is also an area of Aboriginal Significance and rare native species.
