Anti Opti Idle for Truckers

Anti Opti Idle for Truckers
Many drivers understand the importance of safety and comfort and how the two are interlinked. The more things a driver has giving them grief the more it impacts driver retention, safety and comfort. Opti idle and “interior comfort” comes to mind. Between opti idle attempting or actually turning off while in traffic, gas pump lines, when doing daily duties or in the sleeper berth needing to get the federally mandated R&R, these faulty and mismanaged systems from Freightliner Trucks and the carriers that manage them are grieving their drivers. Impacting safety and the comfort of their “most beloved assets, their drivers, passengers and their pets”. Let me remind you it’s a crime to leave a dog in unventilated or uncomfortable situations/vehicles in the summer, or anytime for that matter. Why are drivers being treated as less than an animal? Drivers complain but the bottom line of saving fuel and idling less with little to no options for mediation from carriers for drivers who address that there is a problem. We can find a way to mediate this and it likely needs to be the carrier that takes care of their drivers first until freight liner trucks do the right thing and follow the drivers concerns more than their MPG and bottom line. We need to come to the table on this issue. There are some things worth fighting and sacrificing for in the name of freedom, rights and demands for workers… especially truck drivers.
