Stop Overdevelopment of Padstow, Revesby, Panania & East Hills

Bankstown Council have submitted application to increase the population of Padstow, Revesby, Panania and East Hills by rezoning the commercial areas of these localities to high density residential. The increases will be from 4000-9000 in each suburb.
Residents feel their concerns and objections are being dismissed and preference is being given to developers who do not consider the village nature of these communities.
They have not considered current issues regarding:
- Parking - on street parking, parking lot spaces, and commuter parking spaces are already in high demand with current facilities not meeting existing needs. Creating high density residences in the commercial zones without addressing parking needs will cause local residents living outside of the high density zones to struggle to access services.
- Public transport - train services have not increased to match current growth. During peak periods (from as early as 6:30am) it is standing room only for all trains to the city not originating at Revesby.
- Current developments - these suburbs are in high demand with developers and most single dwellings are being replaced with duplexes. In some areas, adjacent single dwelling housing commission residences are being replaced with unit blocks. These development practices are already working towards doubling the population with no consideration given to the additional parking, transport, school and community services that are not being expanded to match the population growth.
- Loss of public spaces - upwards of 20 local parks and reserves are earmarked for development. With the increase of duplex residences that lack backyard spaces, these parks are increasingly important for children and families.
We understand the need for growth and development but we urge you to consider the dramatic change the Bankstown Council proposal will bring to this area, that is not in keeping with the local community lifestyle.
Please listen to the residents of this local area. Say NO to the Bankstown High Density Residential Development Proposal.
