How Many Children Must Die Before Monroe County Reforms Child Protective Services?

started this petition to President - Monroe County Legislature Anthony Daniele (President - Monroe County Legislature)

The Brook Stagles Child Protective Services Staffing Act protects our most vulnerable children and requires that Monroe County follow the state standard that CPS caseworkers have no more than 15 cases at one time. In Monroe County some CPS workers have over 60 cases.

Last November 3-year-old Brook Stagles died of blunt force trauma while there was an open case with Monroe County Child Protective Services.

New York State found that Monroe County Child Protective Services was among the worst in the state for:

  • Overdue investigations for child abuse and neglect.
  • Number of investigators with excessive caseloads.
  • Number of timely safety assessments.

The Monroe County Legislature has the authority under the Monroe County Charter to reform CPS. And no single individual has more power in the Legislature than its President, Anthony Daniele.

Send a message to Monroe County Legislature President Anthony Daniele to pass the Brook Stagles Child Protective Services Staffing Act. The Legislature cannot wait for the next tragedy to occur.

Sign the petition in support of the Brook Stagles Child Protective Services Staffing Act.
