EOP Office Switch

Ever since the inception of EOP at Cal Poly, hundreds and even thousands of students have had the opportunity to use the program as a resource to aid in tutoring, academic counseling, free school supplies, professional development opportunities, the Summer Institute program and much more. Therefore, it has been an essential part of the Cal Poly community that guides, supports and fosters motivation in our low-income, first generation Mustangs.
If you have been a Mustang for a few years now, you know that the EOP office was previously located in Hillcrest (Building 81). This building gave EOP students a special home at Cal Poly where they knew they were able to be helped. It was our own space in such a large campus. Many students had the opportunity to go there and feel valued because it was a building dedicated to the students and for the students.
However, this summer there was a change made where the EOP office had to move from Hillcrest to Building 52. We are grateful that this move made EOP closer to the school and more accessible to the DREAM center. Nevertheless, the main office is too small for students to feel comfortable and at home. EOP students often feel crammed and it is difficult to interact with them when there are other things going in the small office.
We know that change has always started with the students and will always be for the students. As EOP students, we shouldn't feel like we don't have a home on this campus and for that reason we are making this petition to pave the way for future change. Our ultimate goal is to have every single EOP student sign this petition to move into a bigger office to better accommodate our students who fought so hard to even get to Cal Poly.
Let's make our voices heard! #WeAreEOPStrong
